David Day and Rick Bussey partnered together in 2002 to design and build Ashevilles Fun Depot, an indoor recreation center and Mount Carmel Village, a 166 unit condominium and 46 single family home Subdivision in West Asheville.
Daves background in engineering, development, and construction of both commercial and residential properties, coupled with Ricks background in banking, mortgage brokerage, home building, which includes historic restoration, and sales and marketing, made for a great team. Rick, broadened his development career in 2004 when he left Blue Ridge Savings Bank as a commercial loan officer, to m master plan and develop Wolf Ridge Resort, formally known Wolf Laurel Ski Slopes. Dave continued to develop and build several town home communities, 2 hotels, several retail strip shopping centers, and several office complexes in and around the Asheville area. In August of 2019 Rick and Dave partnered together again for the planning and development of affordable housing subdivisions and commercial retail establishments. In October of 2019 Dave started Sycamore Cove, a 48 unit affordable housing town home community, that should be ready for marketing by the end of April this year. Part of Rick and Daves marketing and development plan included the recent formation of their own real estate broker firm, “Carolina Ridge Realty” In their quest to build a strong team of experienced and skilled real estate brokers, they found Cathy McCraken who has become the company Broker- in- Charge. Cathy brings with her, years of experience as a real estate broker, and a background of legal assistance in civil litigation, real estate, and corporate law. Cathy has several licensed contractors in her family, providing her a great understanding of all aspects of single family construction.
